AUUG is the Australian UNIX and Open Systems User Group. AUUG is a national body, with chapters that organise local activities in most capital cities.
The main AUUG conference will encompass topics such as: Cluster Computing, Managing Distributed Networks, Performance Management and Measurement, Open Source Systems Administration Tools, System and Application Monitoring, Security in the Enterprise, Technical aspects of Computing, Networking in the Enterprise, Business Experience and Case Studies, Open Source projects, Business cases for Open Source, Technical aspects of Unix, Linux and BSD variants Open Systems or other operating systems, Computer Security, Networking, Internet (including the World Wide Web). AUUG wishes to encourage students to attend and also consider presenting at the Student Day, which will be run during the AUUG conference. Students should look to contributing short (25 minute) presentations on topics similar to the ones listed. Presenters at the Student Day will be eligible to attend an industry-based intern programme at a Melbourne CBD-based Unix/Linux/BSD IT services firm as an incentive to present. There will also be a discussion of the current IT employment market for Unix/Linux and open systems, and future trends.

The conference will be held at the Duxton Hotel, 328 Flinders Street, Melbourne, Australia, from 4 to 6 September. Tutorials will be conducted prior to the conference, at the same venue, from 1 to 3 September.
